Fishing boats docked smoothly in the Gangpingshan area of Xiangshan Port on the afternoon of April 25th, and more than 20 barrels of approximately 20.8 million Japanese shrimp fry rushed down through diversion pipes and jumped into Xiangshan Port.
On the previous day, the Chinese Fisheries Administration's 33203 ship carrying 4.11 million fertilized eggs of the Chinese mitten squid arrived at the marine ranch area of Yushan Island. Baskets of fertilized eggs of the Chinese mitten squid were slowly released into the sea.
This is the first aquatic organism proliferation and release activity jointly organized by the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau, the Municipal Marine and Fisheries Research Institute, the Municipal Marine and Fisheries Law Enforcement Team, and other units since the beginning of this year, releasing over 24 million aquatic organisms.
The aquatic species released this time include the fertilized eggs of the Chinese mitten squid and Japanese shrimp fry. Before the release, the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau organized experts to conduct technical acceptance on the quantity, specifications, quality, inspection and quarantine indicators of the released species. After passing the inspection, the release was carried out.
It is learned that in 2024, Ningbo will release 863.2 million aquatic organisms, including 806 million marine species and 57.2 million freshwater species. The release waters will mainly include Xiangshan Port, Nanjiushan Sea, Yushan Islands Sea, Yaojiang River, etc.
Ningbo has been conducting experimental shrimp release in Xiangshan Port since 1982. In 2012, we began to implement the proliferation and release of the Mann's needleless squid, and in 1998, we began to carry out the proliferation and release of the yellow croaker. At present, there are more than 20 species of aquatic organisms released, which have played an important role in restoring fishery resources, improving the marine environment, and increasing the income of fishermen.
